Ok so i started mapping 2 days ago, call me a n00b call me whatever, but i am not here to be flamed i am here for help.  I had some problems with a map that i made which forced me to system restore.

When i did i lost all the models on VHE, likethe vending machines and stuff and was wondering how i could get them back. I tried re installing the cs_expert fgd or whatver it is.

vending machines are -not- models. They are prefabs & tbh, a vending machine is a rectangle brush with textures fitted to it, just look for the textures.

Its generally best you try to map without using prefabs imo, Use them to learn perhaps, but not use them in your own maps for release.

first off, be sure you have a folder called "prefabs"

second, hit the button "add" prefab... and the drop down option should appear..

to add new ones, you have two options.. copy/paste them into your map.. or create them into new .ol files and put them into the prefab folder..
