I'm getting really frustrated/desperate now.
here's the info: I have a music loop Borg made for my map; it's 48 seconds, 176kbps 22kHz, which comes to about 1mb. Borg looped it, and it played fine both in beta 18 of the map, and in a test map I made.
so the loops seems fine.
however, the ambient generic wasn't changed between betas or anything. also, the ambient generic WILL play OTHER .wavs, I just can't get it to play that one.
so the entity seems fine.
I was thinking the filesize of the loop was the problem, but before I had a chance to make the shorter loop the filesize was like 3mb and it played fine!
I even tried putting the ambient_generic in other places in the map; making a new entity; and starting it off, and trigger_auto'ing it. No luck.

(fyi, this will extract to the 'action' directory; manually pop it in the valve one if you don't have AHL)
and here is the room where the music is supposed to play. the ambient_generic is just above and to the left of the tree, and set to a 'large' radius.
Any help would be appreciated. Next I'm going to try reformatting the actual .wav file. The other idea I have is to copy/paste the whole map into a new map file, since Hammer is an evil bitch and all. This is one of the last things I need to fix before finishing up the map, it's so frustrating!!
