Why don't I have any wav files in my ambience folder? The editor does have wav files in the counterstrike ambience but I'm not making levels for counterstrike. So why would there be wav files in that ambience folder but not for Half-Life.

Could someone please help me? I don't think it is an error in setting up the editor because I feel very confident that I set it up correctly.

Thanks for your help!

Accepted Answer
Use PakExplorer to open the .PAK files in the Half-Life/Valve folder and extract.

Yeah.

The sounds aren't in the Valve Hammer Editor folder in case you where looking there, they are in the half-life directory. If your using WON half-life, than you need to download PakExplorer (I recommend PakScape) and look in the .../half-life/valve folder and look for a file called pak0.pak and open it with PakScape/PakExplorer.

If your using Steam half-life than you need to download gcf scape and look in the .../Steam/steamapps folder for a file called half-life.gcf. Once you open that file, look inside valve/sound to view all the sounds.

The .pak and .gcf files are sort of like zip files, inside them is more files and folders that the game uses.

Thank you. I got the PakScape file and every thing worked fine. Then I copied all of the new files that I got into a new folder that I created within valve.

But now a new question has come. Please help again.
