I am using a nodraw texture to create a blockade to an area I dont want players to access.. problem is it is casting shadows, or blocking light... how can I fix this? Maybe as a func_wall, then turn shadows off?

Nodraw?, I think you mean Half-life 2 editing :P

Anyway, what you want to use is a player clip brush not a nodraw brush

The no draw blocks like a wall, and can not be seen.. thats the reason I am using it.. what does the player clip brush do?

player clip blocks the player movement just like a wall
But you do not see it, it does not cast any shadows and it does not block bullets / objects.

There are quite a few different kinds of those tool brushes... and all have slightly different properties

Don't know where you can find information about what each of them is doing ... maybe use google

EDIT: Oh by the way ... I think 'player clip' only exists in Half-life2 ... in Half-life 1 you have to use 'Clip'
