i had a boss a few years ago who came from somewhere in middle england, i'm not sure where exactly. anyway, one day at a staff meeting she called one of the women a silly cow. now this was intended as an almost friendly rebuff, and it would probably have been taken as such if it hadn't been directed at someone who grew up on the glasgow housing estates, where it's almost certain to start a fight. i had the presence of mind at that time to get to my feet first. s**t, i'd have been the one that had to clean the mess up.

my point?........i'm not sure.

on reading through the thread, my initial reaction was about the same as Gollums. probably because it's one of those words, like 'silly cow' (especially the cow part), that's guaranteed to start a fight here.

Orph, you used a better word yourself, in explaining how you meant it. thorn. you can be stubborn, Lep can be a thorn. (no offence Lep )

but then again, who's to say that 'thorn' isn't some sort of violence inducing insult in someone elses home town.

the sad part, is, gollum and i worked it out via a combination of the pm and open forums till i thought a successful ending, i was satisfied that my comment was harmless, but...

anyways, had the post been read in FULL, then no more posts would have been required by anyone after i went to sleep.

the point is, people who take offense, often have a reason for doing so, but in most cases its not the one they think it is.. most times its something else entirely.

i am willing to take the "slap-on-the-wrist" , its no skin of my nose anyways, i doubt anyone jumped in line to respect me just cause i had a green name anyways...

if you disliked me before, you still will now, and vice -versa

i made a typo there^^. original post edited, with the word 'for' removed. sorry if this had any bearing on your thoughts.

the thread was read in FULL, and the part where you asked someone to offer up a word to replace 'prick', was still unresolved. whether that constitutes a requirement to post on open forums, i'll need to eat more water chesnuts to work out.

I didn't 'sack' you because of the 'prick' comment, it was other things as well as this thread. Basically I don't want you as a moderator here. And yes, bitch at me for the things I do if you want, but I basically want forums that are free of n00bism and bitching and illegalness, but are still pretty 'free and open'. I don't get high on the power, I just want a good website/forums that helps other people.
