What do you guys think, i made this early morning on jan 1st of some new year inspiration.

I'm very happy with how the track turnt out, it might be fitting as some kind of sound track to frozen/dead scenes.

The style im not too sure on, i'd go for "IDMish chilled breaks".

Hope you like it, it's pretty deep. smiley

It starts off nice.. a bit too much repercussion, scratchin. It almost wants to build to something but never quite gets there.. kinda like its frozen. So the title works. Its got a nice mellow theme and it does not make my ears bleed, so thats a plus. I like the break mid point and the up tempo and the scratching blends far better there. I joined that site.. I have always wanted to do that sorta thing.. how would I get started Junkyard God? The fade out at the end was a nice touch.. good work, I enjoyed it.

Now this one kicks ass!

Journey above the material world

I dont know.. it sounded pretty upbeat to me to be honest.

edit: oh yeah forgot to mention I quite liked it though. Sounds like something that could easily be used in an indie game.

i guess i generally used to make breakcore / junglebeats, so this is awfully slow for me ^^

Thansk alot ofr the feedback guys, Munhay, actually that might be one of the reasons i have the drums like this, to make it seem frozen. I tried to make it so it shifts around hte bars almost like polyrythmic drumming. to try and keep the repetitiveness low while not changing the beat.

The scratching effect is a reversed snre, but i might change the sampl i'm using sicne this one is kinda scratchy yes.

Repetitive and uninspiring.
There I said it!.
Re-think the whole percussion concept and find a hook for a bit of change up.
Don't hate me either.
BTW, You definitely have skills, that's obvious, and I believe your'e right around the corner from better stuff.
It may just be me though, I listened to several other of yor tracks and always I come back to the percussion. It sounds cheap and tinney. Cut and paste like, and it does not do justice to your music. Post more!.

BTW, I had more to say but the 30 minute edit post constraint on the pit has foiled me more than once from making my point clear.(I still dont get that Gwil! Haven't you ever wanted to say something different or better after thinking about it?)
What I was trying to say was that I have a similiar hobby and can appreciate what you are doing. Here's a couple of samples of my stuff:

hey, uh what software do you guys use to make music?

EDIT (to comment on the song): I like it and i think I can see where you are going. Unlike Juim, I think for this style a level of repetitiveness is fine and even good.

However I agree not to put such heavy reliance on the breakbeat and percussion all the time. You don't need to have constant breakbeats to make the song interesting. I think it's like using colored lighting in halflife maps - just intersperse it here and there. Sometimes less is more.

Maybe check out the song Long Range - Punky, which I think has similarities to what you are doing.

BTW (30 min thing got me too), Juim your song has a lot of cool stuff going on. The main thing I would say is that it sounds like you're trying to do a ton of different things in the song one after another, and so it is not cohesive on the whole.

I mean, you start with a chill melody with subtle ambient sounds, but then a huge electric guitar comes on for a little bit, only to be taken over by some sort of smooth jazz style, and then a harsh 80's style part. And the new parts don't really reference what came before so it's like 4 songs mashed together into 1.

I don't know if you've already hard of them, but maybe check out some of the stuff by Ozric Tentacles like Jurassic Shift or Spacebase. They manage to pull together a ton of different wild stuff into a single song and make it work together on the whole.

I was going to PM you guys about it but I suppose it's going to give folks the wrong idea. -We've now implemented it so that users who have over 100 snarkmarks (as you two do), are now allowed to edit their posts for up to 7 days instead of just 30 minutes. And if you garner 200 snarkmarks, you'll get 30 days to edit your posts. So, next time be sure to look for the "edit post" button before making another post! -You can read about it now in your snarkmarks page under your control panel smiley

Your right Maze, good ear. wintergarden was my first attempt at Cool Edit Pro, (which is now Adobe Audition). I basically took several small ideas and strung them together just because I could. More of a learning thing, but I now return this thread to it's rightful owner.
