true, but IMO anything other than positive could lead to someone not posting at all.

we should do this art thing, like we do maps, and try to remain positive about the crappy stuff too, at least till we see if the person is able to improve or not.

anywho's, i took art in school, i have an appreciation for any picture, even if i don't care for its theme, just cause it was done by hand, makes it special

Everyone always seems to hate their art teacher, but I must say that without the help of mine I would never have achieved the grade I did at higher. I got a B, which is far more than I should ever have been able to get with my skills. She was always really helpful and supporting, and would give advice that always really would help the overall piece. Without her her help I would almost certainly have got a much lower grade. oh man. Not mine.

She'd come over and if anything you were drawing wasn't life like, and no this wasn't a life drawing class. she'd draw on it with her goddamned black caligraphy pen of what it "should" be. Not that her art work was any good. I saw some of it, I could pull a better drawn face out of my ass. Sorry, I may be bitter, but it was a completly unfair experience. It was a situation where you got graded because of her respect for you and not because of your work.

I only did one drawing, ever, that she actually liked. It was an appropriation of M.C. Eshers (spelt it wrong, meh) piece, I totally forget the name, but it's the one of the dude holding the reflective ball. I replicated that with Dr. Strange holding the ball and energy beams and all.
But she had some weird fixation on Esher, so. lol [addsig]

my art teacher lost/threw away all my work & gave me an E, took a long time for me to bother drawing anything again. I quickly gave up after doing so again though. Still useless. [addsig]

And that's why you carry a billy club with you where ever you go

I find it moronic that instructors, in general, will give you a terrible grade on their accord. It doesn't make sense, maybe he didn't like you Korn because you never told him the secrets of CoD lol. [addsig]

lol, its true he didnt like me & that does actually make a difference in art class tbh. funny how all the lick-arses ended up with A's :/

Oh well, in the end it doesnt matter too much. GCSE's are pretty useless unless you use them to go to college & I failed that miserably aswell.

I for one never said all art teachers were morons or anything like that (I don't remember if anyone did, though). It was just the art teacher I had durring high school (that bitch). I had an art class the term before last (because as of yesterday the term ended woo) and she was great.

I don't think anyone should stop drawing because of a teacher, I mean, think of it this way, they're a high school art teacher lol.

Anyway, I might be throwin' some stuff up here as well ... maybe a colored homer or ... a full set of Homer smileys

Vash, I don't roll that way, and don't even think about making some crazy coment on me eating people and putting them in my basement ... lol. [addsig]

Vash seems quite interested in eating people.

Is he trying to tell us something?

Bah. I hate to see such negativity about art teachers. It upsets me that some of you guys had such terrible experiences, whereas I always found art a great escape, and the teachers always seemed very supportive. I guess people are people, though, and you can have bitter people in any department of education.

Anyway.. If you like doing it...shake that s**t off, and have the confidence in yourself to keep progressing. If you let one persons bitterness and lack of understanding deflate something you really enjoy, then you have no chance of being good at it. Believe me, there are plenty of pitfalls, gray days, and negative people out there...but if we let that paralyze our dreams and imagination, then we just suck as artists. Have steel balls, and do whatever the hell you want, as long as it makes you happy....and of course, as long as it's not 'eating people'.

At the time that it happens you care a lot.
Two reasons why.

1) They're grading you and its frustraiting as hell to never be able to get a decent grade on work you busted your ass on.

2) They're suppose to be a representative from that area of society. And then they give you the impression that you're talentless and worthless, in some aspects. They might as well just slap you in the face, It has the same effect.

A lot of art teachers, at least ones I've had, are opinionated and just plain mean. I don't know why they're so mean, but they are. It's most likely they have a closeminded view of art and don't think that you fall into that bracket area. I had the same problem from bulls**t teachers not permitting me to take classes I needed because they "didn't think I can handle the world load" and it's s**t. Half of teachers you may have in your life time wont even remember your name, so what would they care about you in many degrees?
Again, this is just some experiences I've had with teachers, and I'm not holding them all accountable, I've had some great teachers as well. But those few are ones that stick out in your mind like a splinter. And you'll wonder why the hell you couldn't get them to at least respect you in some way or another.

On that note. Think of this. The guy who created FedEx, came up with that idea for his Theasus in Buisness School ... he got an F so he went out and proved the instructor wrong [addsig]

crono, i hate to mention this, but that crummy teacher is a good representation of REAL LIFE, get used to it.

i am not saying everyone is so bad, but life in general sux, from a standpoint of people in a position to be in charge often display the exact same attributes.

if the teacher bothers you that much, just wait till you have an employer with the same qualities, and you cannot do a damned thing about it.

anywho's, i think, you guys should toughen up, or we will be reading about some other candyass who committed suicide again, over life's harsh realities.

life is what YOU make of it, NOT what others do to you..

I was talking about an art teacher I had, mostly....so.

Other things I've had, such as courses in my area, I've had no problems. And my opinions in the matter don't reflect my attitude towards them. Such as I wouldn't sit there at work and whine about my boss, for example. I mean come on, man. But what I was saying that they're a reprensentation of the area of society, meaning everyone who is in professional or amatuer art, or something like that, I know for a fact that most people in the art world (school are not the 'art world') aren't bastards. They respect you if you're good what you do. The individual I'm speaking of didn't, it was a completly inadiquate situation, and if the same thing was happening in a work situation, I, or whoever, would be able to go speak to that boss about it. If they fired you that is grounds for investigation, since they need justified rights, if you've been there for more then a year of course or unless you signed some funky contract. I mean these are just buisness ethics rules of sorts. You don't have to put up with a punk ass for a boss if they're treating you unfairly. I know you're probably going "not in the REAL world", but the fact remains that most corperations are trying to create equal opertunities and equality in the work place, so if you're not even being respected with what you do it has grounds for a change. But anyway.

~tightens bolts on derailed thread~ get back to work! lol.
