I tried blender, it's different then the other modelers out there, in a good way.

The only problem i see at the moment is there seems to be no way to export to a file compatible with HL2... does anyone know anything about this, how to export from Blender, to smd or mdl or whatever.

blender makes it very simple to make and rended things like these (was just kind screwing around....)

not long, all i did was make a sphere and do a little delete action, then a little extrude and some scaling +subdivide, not long ago and it looks pretty with the built-in renderer

i think i love it, do you have any luck explorting to HL2?
Blender can export to other formats.... maybe it would be possible to export to something else and use god knows what to convert it? or since its open source there could be a plugin somewhere :/

milkshape is the king of converters. if i'm not mistaken, blender can export wavefront .obj files. milkshape can open these, and export them as .smd's. [addsig]

I thought of that - but will there be any kind of quality or data loss? or will it be fine if i use warefront format?

EDIT: Ok i tried that what i got in milkshape was two of my models a mile away from the center, and that's no good - when i try to export to some other format it gives my some python error

I just got Blender and this far it has burned my nerves... It really is very different from traditional modeling progs. If you have links to good tutorials on Blender then throw them here. I might be able to take a look after two weeks when I get to my next weekend leave from the army. [addsig]
