I think youre starting in the wrong direction of car modeling. It is
much easier creating a full car from a box by subdividiing it down.
Theres a tutorial somewhere on CGsociety, Ill see if I can find it.

Yer, get the scale right at first. Maybe you should build a really simple model of it, then put the pieces your building on top to make sure they are the right size.

I know they are the right size, I have blueprints set up around the
model, and I align them to that. Once I sort out some minor
issues I can finally get something better.

unfortunatly ... its also how you gain bad habits, each to his own
though because you can definitly tune out your bad habits later.
Tutorials tend to speed things up a bit but they can restrict what you
learn , * as a random kung fu guy in a fighting game would say* Try to
keep a balance between the yin and yang of Order and chaos ;p

Its dissapearing on the left probably because faces on models are only viewed on 1 side usually... but anyway, looking good.

Yeah, I'm modeling with planes, so they're normally one sided.
There is a way to get them 2-sided, but I can't find it. I've
asked on the forums, awaiting reply.

you can set a back side in the material or in the plane menu (not sure
where) but as far as I know it only draws a plane, you still cant
select the back of the plane.

Right click the object, go to properties and deselect "backface cull".
