Ah, well done <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_smile.gif"> I was looking for a solution where you could control the size of the text independently of the containing block, but if you don't require that then no problem.

(Note that the layout doesn't adapt when you increase the text size, but that's another story for another day <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_wink.gif"> )

I just figured out how to make all of the content 95% of the width of the available screen! And it also sort of adapts to changing the text size now, though it doesn't look perfect when you do.

? quote:
#banner{
height: 5em;
font-size: 12px;
}
#banner h3{
font-size: 20;
}

/*nav styles*/
#nav{
height: 0.85em;
}

It doesn't display quite right in IE like that, but its close enough and I'm done with it.
