Almost no one uses black paint here (unless we are doing a grey scale). You can always add compliment colors together to make grey and black. It can be hard to get it right sometimes but the resulting grey has a hint of color that adds so much more to a painting than black and white.

I find that in PS painting, layering color works really well.

Here's my contribution to this here fine thread . It's an animation. Get XviD or ffdshow before killing me.

Christ. What percentage do you get from each sale?

Blame it on Microsoft, God does.

Man I miss my DSL. I love looking at the browse section but even the thumbs take ages on 56k.

Some of those people are truly gifted. Some of our people here are no slouchers.

Nice pic Glass.

I like the picture, but the only thing that seems weird is how she's lighting the pipe. It looks like her right hand should be rotated palm down, instead of palm sideways.

Makes sence, I made this from a photo but added the zippo lighter so that hand is posed to hold a smaller Bic lighter, not the thin fat zippo.

As for my Deviantart store... I make (I think) 50% of the profit over the base price. So if the base price is $10 and I sell it for $20 I make $5. But I paid a one time $25 sign up fee, so I dont think I'll be making any money off of this for quite some time.

DrGlass: It did it with Blender. I just love its particle system. For those who understand a bit what I'm talking about here's how I did the lava:
1. I created a plane mesh and subdivided it a couple of times.
2. I made it a particle emitter with slight randomness.
3. I parented a metaball to the particle emitter and gave it that lava-material.
Three steps simple lava.

I love Blender. It's UI feels like s**te at first, but once you get to know it you're gonna love it.

I just watched your short movie, and I liked it too. I liked the lava texture on the smoke / lavalamp part.

Lavalamp? It's supposed to be a vulcano erupting(I bet I misspelled that one). Anyways it was something I did while learning some of the gadgets, a feature test of sorts. Nice that you liked it. Perhaps I'll make some real animations at some point.

I knew it was a volcano, I just meant the animation on the texture of the erupting lava reminded me of the motion of a lavalamp. That wasn't very clear from my original post, but thats what I meant <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_smile.gif">

I see. No offense taken. Here's something I did while experimenting with the fluid dynamics. Again it helps to have the XviD codec. That animation almost killed my poor old comp. It took 17 hours to render.

I was a little confused by the piping, but the water dripping and pooling looks really good.

does this count as art? i almost finished it this week. there's one or two things to tweak before it gets a test flight, and i'm a little worried that it might rip its wings off with the power of the motor that i fitted. time will tell

Saweet! I always wanted to build my own, but never had enough time/energy. One thing, though. It doesn't seem to have ailerons. Does that make the rudder it's only control surface? :S
