Well, it's true that the game was kind of a let-down, but I still enjoyed it a lot. It was awesome to make creatures and see them back in any phase.

But yeah, the creature phase was still the best one... It's a shame it is so short smiley

A Tangara Train I'm modeling for a project me and my class are working on. Textures have to be made from scratch (base colours > details > material noise > grunge).

This particular model is exciting for me because I have an interest in trains, maybe too much Thomas the Tank Engine when I was younger. smiley

It's coming along. Is it just me or do the doors look a little wide compared to the reference?

Perhaps it is, but also notice that the real life picture is taking from a different angle.

This is my variant of the SCAR-H, a weapon manufactured by FN HESTREL chambered for the 7.62x51mm NATO round, complete with rails and fixed sights.

Looking good there Elliot. What's with the colours?

It's just the angle as Nib said. I modeled the side off a diagram so I'm pretty safe.

Really nice. But I'd like to see it with textures made from photos (or something) from the real world. It's noticeable for me that textures are made out of a white image.

Oh wait:

That's really difficult because it's both hard to find on the web and hard to take your own photos of the Tangara to turn into textures.

But the Tangara's texturing is pretty simple and isn't too difficult to replicate with simple textures.

Damn, looks pretty good Aaron! I'd make the cabin visible through the glass, and then ......

....Put it into Source! I've always wanted to make a train map, or somehow incorporate a train as the mainstay of a map one way or another.

I do agree about the texturing though, the model looks nice enough to where it probably deserves it. Either way though, looks like a really good interpretation of the real deal. The textures would also allow you to get some nice bump maps in there to spruce it up!

My class mates have been trying to encourage me to model the interior as well but it just seems like a lot of work. I think the interior would be harder to model than the exterior but that said, I think I could get away with modeling the interior to a lower standard than the exterior of it.

but it just seems like a lot of work.

Do you remember the train engine model in HL2? The one that has a really low-res texture? Well, it has a semi-cabin just enough to appear like a space behind the glass when looking at it from the ground. That's all I meant by building an interior. If you keep the glass pretty smokey, it could still be believable. -Even just as an empty box inside.

That's interesting. I tried finding a picture of this cable car but didn't find anything.

Don't quote me on it, but I'm pretty sure it was in Wanted.

I don't think I watched any other movies last night..

I'm possibly going to watch that movie again soon. I'll keep an eye out for the train, heh pretty curious if it's in there
