I want to re-skin the soda machine in a Snarkpit soda image I am making in photoshop.. anyone know how I re-skin a model, and if I do it, will it work only on my maps, and not change the skins for every soda machine in the other maps too.
Its time we represent the PIT in a soda machine model!

All you would need to do is extract the original texture from the gcf file, edit it, and put the edited texture into a folder of your game dir that is the same as the folder/dir that it was in in the gcf.
This will make every machine have the edited texture, so what you would need to do next is use a prog like PakRat to embed the new texture into the compiled map. Once it's in the map, you can delete the instance that you put in your game dir, so all the other machines (in other maps, that is) will look normal again.

Cool Fishy, how do I extract the texture? Does the SDK have tools built in to do that?
I have pakrat.. and planed on using it, because I am doing custom textures for some stuff, like walls and so forth.
Since were talking extraction.. where do I find the sky files in other games? So I can yank them as well and have them to use in my maps?

Crafty is a Source and GldSrc media/asset viewer/extractor. It can access GCF's while steam is running, and it's stable.
