Note that my remarks on suicide and abortion do not apply to the entirety of either issue, but if you want me to explain myself, I will.

please don't, i have a notion that you and i feel about the same on the two topics, and i get into a lot of trouble in real life for my view on it, i really don't think SP is ready for them.

If a person is financially, physically, and socially (to an extent) able to put a child up for adoption, the arrogance in destroying a life that does not yet exist for the sake of the happiness of another cannot be justified.

As for victims of real* rape, or somebody who cannot possibly put a child up for adoption for whatever reason, only then should abortion be allowed.

*a disturbing trend in rape cases involve women who were in a relationship with men over 18 when they were not seriously under that age... the relationship ends on a sour note, and bam, the man is a rapist

solution: stay away from girls under 18...

Abusing the law for the sake of petty and unjust desires is one of the most horrendous things I've ever encountered.

I agree, but I make a point of not letting issues like that upset me.

Hmm... I didn't have time to read the other posts so I may be saying the same thing... But, the girls shoulders are much to broad. You could enter that chick in an arm wrestling contest (make her arms narrower at the base!). By sizing down her shoulders, you would need to make her upper body a little shorter and narrower, move her boobs down, angle her face more towards the artist (not the guy holding the flower), and take that mask off her face [addsig]

Ok, let's try this again. I just drew this one two days ago. I think the shading is crap, the foreshadowing of the arm is wrong, and the face is off kilter, but I can't help it. It's tough to draw from a color photo using only grays while not following the photo exactly and letting my supposed comic-book style penciling interfere. Oh well

Hey, soldiers are people too! (well, at least this British guy, dunno about the rest...)

I love that latest picture, and I would have it as my background right now if it wasn't for the cat's tail which scares me. It's too long and knobbly.

Otherwise, very good work!

Me likey except for the guy's face... doesn't match the realism in the rest of the image. He looks like he's about 60.

Yak:
Look at the proportioning stuff I posted on the previous page, it'll solve all your problems. It seems you just wanna scrunch up the face and hands. The left hand there is good, but if you notice it's only because it's on the gun and you proportioned it to the gun, the right hand is another story. The stuff I posted should help you, if it doesn't I'll draw up what the 'scematics' of the face look like if you like.

But as I said before, your torso and legs are awesome, the face is a bit easier to proportion then the body, so you're 90% there. However hands are still the most difficult thing to draw, unless you force your self to draw them over and over and over again.

The shadowing isn't that bad. granted the light probably isn't that hard, but it's good overall. You should see some of the crap I've seen oogled by art teachers, bleh.

You have a very good technique there yak, you just need to work on a little proportioning.

I hope that helps in some way. [addsig]

The gun barrel looks uber long to me, that looks more like some mad ass old tripod-fixed machine gun in terms of length as opposed to whatever rifle it is meant to be (not knocking your representation of the gun, my knowledge on rifles just isn't that great!).

Otherwise, the comments of the others are certainly true but its an excellent drawing. Do you do mostly character art, or do you also do other stuff?

Yeah, the gun is too big. It's an M-16, and they have long barrels, but not that long but at least it's a very accurate portrayal of the gun minus the proportion against the guy.

I mostly don't do character art, which is why they look so poor. I took about six years of after-school art training working mostly with pastels and acryllics doing still-life and landscapes. Most of all that sucks ass, but of course my parents have it all framed and hung around the house...I've just recently got back into doing serious art after a four year hiatus, so it's not very good, but I still managed to dominate my elementary drawing class last semester. Course that's mainly because most of my fellow students shouldn't have been allowed within a foot of pencil and paper.

I liked your drawings yak. you seem to struggle with the proportion problems that plague most people, including me. A little more attention to faces, and taking some of the good advice already posted here, and your anatomy will jump to new levels quickly. Your shading skills seem very solid...which is what I am most interested in personally. Good lineart is very impressive..something I have never achieved, but a good understanding of light, tone, and values, is what gets me off... keep it up.

Some of you may remember previous pieces I have posted here. Wish I could say I have been drawing alot, lately, but my time is more focused on 3d modeling and texturing nowdays. Maybe I will have something to post soon. Great forum btw.
