Probably not going to impact most people this one, but I run a multi-monitor system - One 5900 AGP as a main screen and several other screens driven by an oldish NVidiea 32 Mb PCI card and a PCI 64Mb NVidea Quadra driving other screens. Until recently I've had to run Hammer (3.5) configured with my 3D camera textured display on the 5900 and Half-Life model viewer (1.25) on the same screen, as on any other screen they don't actually show anything (known issue regarding opengl only working on primary display apparently).
On Fri, I downloaded the HL2 SDK and started playing aound. Virtually the first thing I noticed is that both Hammer (V4.0) and the included Half-Life model viewer (V1.22) both quite happily display the pitcures regardless of which screen they're on. In the case of the model viewer, this presents me with a dilema. What are the functionailty differences between V1.22 and V1.25, and are they worth forcing me to run the model viewer on the main screen.
Still mucking around with the architectural side of Hammer V4.0 and it's very sweet. No more mucking around to set up textures with transparent elements, and they show up correctly in Hammer. Lovely stuff.
Grateful for any thoughts.
CJ
