Well, i worked with WorldCraft years before and now testing Hammer, but i have a "little" Problem compiling my maps.

First, i create a little Test map, nothing spectaculare. A Rock with grass and a street nearby. Now, when i compile the Map i became the following errors:

fixing up env_cubemap materials on brush sides...
Creating default cubemaps for env_cubemap using skybox sky_dust...
Run buildcubemaps in the engine to get the correct cube maps.
Finding displacement neighbors... <--- At this line, the vbsp.exe produces a fatal error window. ( i have delphi on my pc so i can switch between debugger and coninue application..) if i continue, the compiler continue his work

Memory leak: mempool blocks left in memory: 49 <--- leaks? not good eh? Well, after this line i became a cpp libary error for vbsp.exe - R6025 "pure virtual call function"

The error mentioning displacement neighbours suggests the problem comes from any displacement surfaces you have in your map. Try compiling an utterly basic box room and see if it works. Assuming it does, then select the top face of its floor and turn it into a displacement surface, and play around with it a little bit. Compile this and see if it works. Doing this will at least show that your compile tools are working, and that displacement tools are working.

The memory leaks are happening to everyone (or at least me and a fair few others), just some bad code in the compilers. It shouldn't have any effect on your map itself.

As a side note, I notice you are running two threads on the compile tools. Do you have a dual processor machine? You may want to try running only a single thread to ensure its not causing problems - might be some synchronisation issues or something at the moment?

Ok thanx, i will try it.

well, i have a Pentium 4 and hyper processing enabled, so this can be the reason for the 2 threads.

And one thing what i want to ask...i use the Hl2 sources because i like to build some maps for hl2 ( not cs:s ) I run Hl2 in dev mode but cant open the console ( in cs:s i can open the console and running commands ). can i somehow run the console in hl2 to load my custom Maps or dont Hl2 support such a thing?

Launch Half-Life 2 and go to "options -> controls -> advanced" and make sure that the "enable console" option is checked. Now it should work just fine.

The compiler is now working...i try to find my failure in the old map atm...

Well..i run Hl2 in -dev mode and have marked the console option but i cant see the console if i click ^ ; ~ or some other keys.

You just have to bind it to a key. I had to do the very same thing, even with the "enable console" option. Use the "toggleconsole" command.

I startet hl2 now with the -dev -console parameter and it is working now :>

Hi!
How did you solved the R6025 pure virtual function exception in vbsp.exe ?? I get everytime I use displacement in my maps!? using hammer 4.1

thanx
