Hi, just now signed up to the site, but pretty much learned how to use hammer from the tutorials here a year or so back. I was wondering if I can import models from XSI into Hammer yet, or is that coming later with the full sdk? Would .emdl model files from XSI work? Also can I use the barrel models from HL2 yet, or is that with the full SDK too? I saw them in the nice physics tut, but do not know how to get them. Thank you for any help.

You can't take models directly from XSI into Hammer, you need to compile them first, as described in the documentation of the Source SDK:

And you can indeed use the barrel models, and all of the HL2 content - The only problem is that the SDK is setup to use CS:S content by default, so you have to do a bit of tweaking with the GameInfo file as described in the following tutorial :
