Except for recently, it's been a while since I have mapped. But the usual 16 units seems a lot bigger than normal, maybe it's been too long? Anyways, I've looked but I didn't find any information on this, what sizes should I make these:

1) Windows that you can crouch through.

2) Doors

3) How thick a wall should be.

4) How tall, thick, and wide is Gordon?

5) The height for a single floor of a multiple floor building.

I know I'm asking quite a bit here, but it seems as though the sizes have changed since HL1, and all I remember was that Gordon used to be 32 wide or tall when crouched.

I don't have the information handy, but If I wanted to find this stuff out, I'd just fire up hammer and see what works best. I know it's nicer to have concrete figures to work off though, but generally if it looks right, it'll do.

if you want exact figures, its as simple as a small test map away, but at a guess id say:

1) 45 units
2) 90 units
3) 32 units
4) inside height 128 units

as its not an exact science, i feel these numbers are close, but as i said, its as far away as a simple test map.

The sizes are identical to HL1. Perhaps you have your texture scale set to 1? All the HL2 textures are 512x512, even the ones meant to be placed on 128x128 walls. Thus, the default scale in Hammer is .25.

The player is 32x32x72 I believe.

Ok, I believe I found it. http://collective.valve-erc.com/index.php?doc=1015286457-70421400 This is if all the HL2 dimensions are the same as in HL1.

Try using the DEV textures in your hl2 package file, (just type in DEV in the filter). They can give you an feel on how stairs, walls and doors should be like to feel realistic.

Or you can have a look at Valves Orange and Grey dev/dev_<texturename> textures, most of them have the sizes valve use written on them (the actual texture).

(edit: Whoops, I read every comment except for the very last, lol.)

note that if the player ducks, he is smaller that half the size ReNo mentioned,

just make a block room to test this out in, then you'll end up with you own sizes and have different windows witch adds to the looks of the map (or if you screw up like i do alot it'll make it ugly but thats not the point)
