I figured that since it was HL2 related it should go here. There has been one post at steampowered and the question was never answered. So I turn to the snarkpit:

What are these? look at the door and the waepon for the inept people.

Here is my system:
AMD 2.4 GHz oc'd 2.5 (no problem there)
1 Gig RAM pc 3200
x800 XT PE w/ aftermarket fan with latest omega.net drivers
Gigabite 800 MHz FSB MoBo

Here is what im running Half life 2 and Counter strike source at:
1280x1024
AA at 4x
AF at 2x
everything else set on high.
And Im getting 90-100 fps

My GPU is running at 49 C whenever this happens, and it only happens on source games. If I change the resolution to another then they go away, but then when I change a level they come back. So then I change the resoultion again and it goes away. I think my question is "Am I F***ing up my system?"

Any help is appreciated

Artifacts are usually caused by graphics card problems (whether it be overheating or not), I had a huge problem trying to play UT2k4 on my old GeForce.

My suggestions would be to turn off (or turn down) antialiasing, and to turn texture detail levels down. Also, run dxdiag.exe (start > run) and do the tests to check your drivers are working correctly; are you running DX9.0c?

Yes im running DX9c, and I installed it the "correct way". My guess it would be the omega drivers im using, they are beta after all. But ill try toneing down AA when I get home from school.

BTW this web site really isnt friendly to slow internet connections (I now know what orph was talking about)
