Ok i've searched the forum and came up with nothing. Basicaly when i run Hammer i get a prompt saying that the cache needs repair and gives me the error code 116. How would i go about fixing this? I deleted all the default profiles (CS, Half-life2 and HL2 Deathmatch) by mistake and then restarted my computer. When i came to run Hammer it wouldn't open.

Never heard of this problem I'm afraid. I'd recommend you delete the SDK and redownload it to be honest, sounds like you might have some corrupted files in it or something?

Tried that, didn't work. Cleared registry of files and delted the SDK folder. Still not fixed.

Re-validate your game, it seems this error occurs from Game Resources that aren't being validated.

Go here: http://www.steampowered.com/index.php?area=news&archive=yes&id=351 for validation links.

If you search for the actual problem on this site you'll find various solutions to it; basically yes you delete the SDK from the Steam menu and physically (the sourcesdk directory), restart Steam and re-install it (though it will take some time to be downloaded). Then run it through Steam and it'll be fine.

The official SDK has been updated with an FAQ section, which includes this problem.
