I would agree, though I can't see any decent torch flame sprites in HL2 :/

Well, when I made my flametrower, I wanted to make that blue fire at the start of the flame, and it turned out to look like the flame on a welding torch. (mine was just bigger) I used a very short laser/beam, and faded the end. Made it blue, simple!
Hope thats the kind of flame you are looking for ![]()

Well, I tried it out and here's the settings I used.
I chose the env_laser entity.
Brightness:200
Beam width: 20 (also tried 10, no difference)
Noise: 50
Sprite name: blueflare1 (also tried default)
End sprite name: Blueflare1
End sprite: Blueflare1
Dissolve type: Energy (tried Normal also) Same result
Render FX: Normal (also tried spotlight, no difference)
Anyways, the beam is very flickery and looks nothing like a powerful flame. If anyone has any good settings or ideas, i'm open to suggestion. Thanks.

Well here's what settings I used om my flame:
I had a env_beam (But i think env_laser would work too)
Brightness: 100
beam color: 1 5 158 (rgb)
Width: 2.5
noise: 1
sprite: sprites/laserbeam.spr
and i checked the 'shade end' flag.
To me its looks like a welding torch flame, intense and powerful. Hope you'll find something that suits your needs!
