I'm looking to recreate the effect of a strobe. It should be blinding
lake the point_spotlight and yet flikker like (e.g.) the flikker
apearance off a normal light.
can someone help me with this?

Create a light entity, and in the appearance, set it to "Fast
Strobe". Ensure that the brightness is bright too ... maybe

Or if you want to do it manually. I think on a light_dynamic you can put in a custom appearance and azazazaz would make it full bright, off, full bright, off.

This man has created the greatest avatar in the universe and I have rated him five.

yeah i knew all that the question was how to make it blinding like the point_spotlight
what i realy need is something like the flash of the scanners (you know enoying little flying things in HL2) but then a few times fast and repititive.
thanx for your attempts though

The scanner used a env_fade. This sets a colored overlay on the
players screen. Only problem is that I think it will
affect everyone everywhere... But I could be wrong. make a
light and a env_fade with a input to fire them every 1 second, this
will turn them on and off a second at a time, that should be enough for
a good strobe.
But what would be even more real, an env_overlay (like the effect when you first get on HL2 or when your in the teleporter with alyx) but I have NO idea how to use that.
