When I open up hammer to work on my HL2DM maps I open up any map and press F9 to test it with normal vrad and vvis and vbsp but after it compiles and it says loading game I get this:

Can't load c:program filessteamsteamappsstickfigs@netscape.nethalf-life 2 deathmatchbinfilesystem_steam.dll.

I press ok and nothing happens. I've deleted the .dll then restarted steam and ran HL2DM and it creates a new .dll but I still get error. I reset SDK and game config from SDK menu and still I get this error! It only happens sometimes and it happens with all the mods, but it hasn't been working at all lately.

Please tell me how to fix this, expert compile menu takes forever to open the game. And no, I do not want to leave DM running while I compile and edit.

Does this only happen when trying to load HL2DM through the compile process, or does it do it when loading straight from Steam?

Right, so there's a problem with your setup. My psychic powers tell me you're trying to load one of the hl2.exe's dotted around the place. Check our expert compile tutorial here, or if that doesn't work post your full compile log (when I say full, I mean the one from the window, not from the .log file which has text missing from it)

Are you sure there isn't another way to fix this? Expert compile takes longer to open the game after it finishes compiling.

No expert compile works, and I don't think the help log will hold clues to make this error message go away.

There is a problem with your map. Mostly like a brush or eninity is trying to call something from another game.

This happened to me when I moved a map from HL2DM to HL2 (Single Player). I had a trigger in the middle of the map. When I opened the file in Hammer this trigger no longer had a trigger texture on it but the default brick on it. After deleting it, my map compiled and proceeded to run in game w/o the error involved.

No this has NOTHING to do with the map because I have tested it with a brand new map.

And it worked recently after Steam updated for that CSS bot thing, but today I loaded the same map and compiled but after it finished compiling It happened again.

Please help.

I have just had exactly the same fault and tried resetting game defaults etc

none worked, so I copied the file from my half-life 2 deathmatchbin to my counter-strike sourcebin

I could compile fine from deathmatch but not cs now both work so copy the file from your "compiling" game to your non compiling game should work.
