The modeling program used is softimage's XSI, there is a free version
designed to work with Half-Life 2. There are some basic tutorials here,
along with the download: http://www.softimage.com/Products/EXP/HL2/
BTW this site is mainly mappers
, there are a few modelers here, just
don't know who they are. Plus you can do a search on google to find
other modeling tutorials in XSI.

You say it like you can only be one or the other. A mapper or modeler.
I can see why it would be like that for mods but for maps its handy to
know how to mkae your own props.

I know how use 3ds max and going from that to softimage it really strange, so i gave up. Have they released a 3ds max converter, coz i heard they was?
