That's insane. Looks damn good though.
I did a noclip in the SP HL2 at the beginning just after leaving the train station in City17 and I went to the edge of the skybox where the sky turns black. The citadel that they had in the distance was part of a 3D skybox or something, because when I got close to it, it disappeared. Not sure exactly how Valve did that, unless they're just holding out on us with a model of a mini-Citadel. I'll have to experiment with making one and see how it looks.

The Citadel models are not life-sized, they're scaled down...

All I know, is that I have a pretty big outside map. When I tried to place the Citadel model into my map, I couldn't see my map anymore in the 3D view. It was just a huge red rectangle. That damn thing was big! I would have had to triple my skybox space to accomodate this monster. I was actually laughing out loud it was so big. And they had several to choose from. All which were huge. Oh well. Maybe i'll make one from scratch, place it in my 3D skybox and give it a nice fog effect.

Thanks Omega. I'll give that a shot.

One other thing is that the model of the Citadel has a alpha map with a gradient going up it to give it the look that it's fading into the clouds in the sky box.
