Here's what I got and I am stumped.

I have (a pretty big) map, which works fine, no compiling errors or anything.

When I compile it with a bounce lower than 6 it works fine.

As soon as I compile it with RAD set to bounce 7 or 8, as soon as I build the cubemaps it crashes to the desktop, my BSP filesize is reduced to 1/8 of its normal size and I get a "map with no textures" error if I try and load it after that.

I figure that I maybe have a problem with my materials or something, I don't know what else could throw off my cubemaps like that.

Again, otherwise the map is fine, no errors and smooth running with RAD set to a bounce lower than 8. :S

Things I tried:

-Retexturing, about everything

-Copy and paste it into a new map.

-Removing models, removing decals

-And of course I checked for problems with brushes, and my entity list.

If someone wants, I'll post my compile log, but there's really nothing special to see there.

Well, if ANYONE knows what this might be, plz let me know.

Morpheus

Do you need to set the bounce in RAD? The default value seems to work fine. Also, do other maps (e.g. simple test boxes) have the same problem?

Thanx for the quick response leperous

Its just with this map that I have this problem.

I have everything in a mod directory, and there's something weird there.

Because, when I put it directly in the Halflife2maps directory it will build cubemaps.

I think it has to do somehow with the seperate MOD dir

Though other maps I created work fine too.

The only reason I increased the bounce is because it looks nicer with the bounce set to 8.

As I said, it worked with a bounce set to 3 or 2.

Also if I am in the water, I can't lookup and see whats above the surface, refracted and all. I just see unclear water, and a view a little like looking in the void.

And if I do this in the Halflife 2 directory, it works normally and everything's perfect.

I can show you if you want, weird problem, but not really urgent.

Just let the problem go for the moment

Well, thanks for the quick response.

You seem to be on top of a lot in the forum.
