I want to make some of the textures that valve has provided into bumpmapped textures. I was wondering where they actually are on my hard drive so i can open them in photoshop and use the knowledge from that wonderful tutorial that you guys have about making bumpmapped textures to make those textures which i have used look a lot better. I have a feeling they are in some special type of file....packed away deep somewhere in that steam directory. If you could point me in the right direction i would really appreciate it.

the textures and other game files are in the .gcf files in your SteamApps folder. To get access to them you have to use somehting called a gcf extractor.
