I performed a search and couldn't find a message that directly
references this, so I figure I'll share it and hopefully help some new
folks like myself.
Use Texture Lock on your
brushes once you've pain-stakingly aligned all the many faces of a
fabrication. In this way, you won't be a frickin' schmuck, like
myself, who keeps realigning his textures after he spends hours getting
it right.
The shortcut key is SHIFT-L and it can also be found in the Tools Menu,
the ninth option down. It will drastically save time, something that's
very obvious to me after using it only once. It would also appear that
it just stays on... great stuff.

No offence or anything, but what a waste of cyber space (here we post
editing questions....so whats yours?). Why didn't you put this in a
hint/tips area or something.

Feel free to move it (whoever can). Sorry if it's a waste of space to
you, but I found it to be yet another of those details that you might
take for granted, but I thought I'd share. Please relax.

But you have to admit that more people probably end up reading it here than in any tips/hint place.
It is a very good advice, after all.

i wrote this years ago, some of it is still valid info.
perhaps, we should remake one. edit it for accuracy, then post it for new people to read.

I don't like to leave TL on though. I only use it in the instance
you've outlined; just moving around prealigned stuff. In general
I would leave it off especailly if you're working with organic
brushes. Its very stupid to have TL seams running through your
rock walls or grassy knoll.

I keep it on all the time personally, as its very easy to mass realign
natural textures such as rocks or grass using the "replace textures"
tool with "do not replace textures" checkbox seleted.
