I want to put a ragdoll (corpse) into a chair, but I have no idea how to go about doing this. Do I have to actually make a (static) animation that positions the ragdoll properly, or is there some easier way to postion these guys?

Place a prop_ragdoll above the chair, and only hope that the physics
will take over and drop him in the chair the way you want. Other than
this I have no clue tis how you can "control" how he sits in the chair.

I satisfactorily positioned a corpse in my single player map
(http://www.snarkpit.com/maps.php?map=1643) by using prop_ragdoll and
changing the yaw/roll/pitch setting. It can be accomplished with
some trial and error.
