I imagine this is another lighting problem that's easily fixed, but my searches haven't yielded anything (probably looking for the wrong words) so I'm post:

I've made a small outdoor map with a house and a fence made of func_breakables. the fence is not lighting well at all (the only light I have in the area is the environment one). They flicker from black to lit at apparently random intervals as I walk around. I've placed cubemaps but they don't seem to do anything.

Also, part of my displacement map is not lighting correctly. Am I supposed to place cube maps along open terrain? I looked at the beach example map, and there didn't seem to be any. How am I supposed to properly light these displacements?

For the fence problem, what is your texture. I've heard similar problems and these come from using textures with model/ in their names. Try changing the textures.

I don't know about the displacements, try changing their texture, adding cubemaps, chekcing for problems (ALT+P in editor) and just fooling around. I'm sure someone will give you a better answer soon.

No problem, it is a common error among the newer users of Hammer.

Still no ideas on the displacement though. [addsig]
