My friend and I are both making maps, one of us on the right side of
the x/y and one on the left of the x/y part. What I'm thinking is how
exactly am I going to go about combining the 2 maps.. is there a way to
copy and paste them together? Or should i take a text format of one map
and paste it into the second map in text form?
Any input is greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

In Hammer, just open both maps up at once. Select everything in one map, Ctrl+C to copy, switch to the other map window, Ctrl+V to paste, and line them up.
