Ive been messing around in the beta sdk (for those ignorant, restart steam with the following addition to the target: -beta sdk) and trying to get HDR into a map. however, i havnt been successful. there is a tick in the compile menu for HDR, btw.

ive messed with env_tonemap_controller, the new light_environment properties, and no luck yet. anyone had success?

Yeah.. you just set the HDR values in light_environment to the same you have in your normal light values, then you use a HDR skybox... such as sky_lostcoast or sky_dod_xx_hdr, where xx is a number... (taking that you want to make it for dods?)
Then you compile it with HDR ticked... it takes twice as long time because RAD is ran twice... and then you load the map and
mat_hdr_enable 1
And voil?! Enjoy <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif">

HDR looks pretty, but running out of a dark building so you can be cut in half by some camping machine gunner that you'll never see because of the blinding HDR effect, isn't really what i'm looking for in an FPS.

The skd hasnt even been released yet. I would recomend waiting for it actually be implamented. Plus rogue threat has to support HDR I believe.

I thought that was bloom, and HDR is just making the textures and bumpmaps prettier <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_smile.gif">

HDR uses bloom to simulate light that is brighter than your monitor can display.

HDR is much more subtle than you think, fishy. It doesnt blind you, the light just looks more realistic. Try running lost coast.
