I'm one of the many who have been having problems with steam. I was originally missing the texture 3d view in hammer, so I updated my steam shortcut to run with -beta sdk and that solved that issue. Now I'm getting something after I've compiled and run the game in hl2dm, 'Steam Validation Rejected' comes up after it's verified client data etc etc. I know that this message comes from having an invalid steam id or whatever but I have a legal account and I can play dm fine on a regular server. Not to mention I had compiled the map several times prior to this problem with no issues. So I tried converting my map over to a CS:S map, converted entities, textures, prefabs etc, same issue after a succesful compile. Steam Validation Rejected. Why am I having this problem? Is anyone else having this issue after running the -beta sdk paramater?

That seems to be happening lately to people who are running their maps through the console. If youre just doing a test run, type "sv_lan 1" (without quotes) in the console before running the map, this works for me.

I have the same problem.

You can also bypass the problem by clicking on "Create Server" from the menu.
