1st Take a deep breath and formulate your sentences. I can't really tell what your asking.

2nd I saw the term areaportals. Why not do a search for another topic about areaportals. I came up with 15 different topic about areaportals that you could have posted in.

3rd Its amazing what you can find with google:
http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Controlling_Geometry_Visibility_and_Compile_Times
Took me abour 10 sec to find this.

Omega, I understood him perfectly after I looked at his home.

Sometimes, there might not be a Belgium version of a tutorial he could find.

Seriously, some of us need to practice some tact where members and written English is concerned.

As a person whom is often misunderstood I am a bit sensitive when others are picked on for their print.

I wasn't picking on you Omega, just pointing out that perhaps his sentences were about as good as they will ever be if English is not his chosen language. Picking on them probably wasn't the best course you could have taken.

/me shuts up now.

Thx for standing up for us orph <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_wink.gif">
Since belgium is small we simply have to use english etc. While writing/talking doesnt always go smoothly, most belgians understand it quite well.

anyway, the site Omega provided gives excellent info. There are indeed other techniques besides areaportals, if you havent got separated rooms.

Considering WoW is pay to play and still addictive, does Blizzard (or who ever released it) at least hand out rubber hoses so the needle slides into the vein easier? <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/heee.gif">

Ok.

My problem is that I have a large area with tunnels in it but allso a large outside area. Now with does tunnels my FPS drops from 100 to 20 <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/sad.gif"> and Valve are useing areaportals for huge outside area's to. But for some reason I can't get it working well.

You have to close off the entire area from one another (eg: you have to put an func_areaportal_window brush ent in every window, door, and anywhere that is open to the outer area).

They have to be consealed by brushes as well, no func_(anything) ents. In essence you can place a HUGE func_areaportal_window right down the middle of your level, essentially cutting your level into two halfs (from sky brush to sky brush). But this can lead to strange effects that you may not want.

Look into the env_fog_controller, this ent will allow you to stop drawing far off polygons in your scene, while allowing them to fade away into "fog"

Really you shouldnt use area portals if you dont know what your doing. But there is a tutorial on the snarkpit that explains areaportals a bit. Do a search on google.

orph - they hand out rubber tubes for our IVs that we hook up to ourselves for those 10+hrs raids we all go on. And I really don't mind the PtP games (for 15$ a month I get a lot of pleasure and happyness out of it )
