I was inspired after watching constantine, to make some sort of map involving lots of wind, wind effects, that blow heavily, such as when he goes into hell. Also if you've seen chronicles of riddick, the part where the sun comes out on that one really hot planet, and the hot wind that burns the dude's skin off...

Any idea how I could make wind such as this, or perhaps just particle wind for something such as a blizzard, or ash being blown around? I was thinking I could use func_smokevolume and set the particle velocity up high, but it just goes back and forth and doesn't stream in one direction like I want. Anyone have any ideas?

You could use an env_steam (or several) with giant smoke particles. I used it for a sequence where a compartment blows up and the cabin starts depressurizing at high altitude. Worked pretty well.

oo Cool! I'll havea to try that, i could even use it to just refract light so it just looks like heat... I don't know how that'll work out for me but i'll give it a go one of these days.

Well be careful with the heatwave parameter, it can kill framerate really quickly, depending on how much of the screen the particles are taking up. If these are massive heatwave particles, it'll be a slideshow.
