Hey, I searched for installing enviroment maps but I could not find anything.

I have the image files but I do not know where to put them.

Should be the "materialsskybox" folder of the game you are trying to install it to I think. By having the "image files" though, do you just mean BMPs or TGAs or something? If so, you need to convert them into materials first. The later part of this tutorial should help...

It is a 3D skybox, up, left, right, down, forward and back not a 2D one.

When people refer to a 2D skybox, they simply mean one that is made up of several 2D pictures (such as bitmaps, TGAs, JPGs, or VTFs). A 3D skybox, in regards to the source engine, is made up of 3D models or brushwork built in hammer. Any maps with outdoor areas in the source engine will have at least a 2D skybox, and an optional 3D skybox as well.

Head over to your new VTFs. They'll be in ...materials/skybox for whichever game you're editing. Now create six VMTs with the same names as the VTFs using this format:

How do I make the VMTs? I did everything up until then.

Just make a text file and change the .txt extension to .vmt. Type what it tells you into them <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_smile.gif">

Okay I have done that, it says just to load up Hammer and enter the name of the enviroment in the skybox field on map properties, I did that but it did not show up.
