When making a CS map, there are a lot of options for props and textures from other maps. I mean the "standard" maps like cs_italy and de_dust and all those. If they fit in, do you guys like to use those props and textures in your maps? Or is it a faux pas to include parts of others' work? Or do you just give the other mapper credit in your map?

Well if the assets (textures, props, sounds, whatever) are official assets, in that they ship with the game, then there is absolutely no problem in using them in your level. If the assets came with a custom map or you downloaded them seperately, then you should try and find out if the author minds their use in other levels. Normally it will be said in the map readme if the author made the assets themselves, or if the assets were downloaded seperately then check the website. Often these assets are free to use however you wish, other times they request you give credit or ask permission first. Normally it is fine to use other assets provided you give credit, and it is nice to ask for permission of the author too.

Cool, so I guess we're free to use the maps in the "counter-strike source shared.gcf" file. Thanks.
