Extract the model and related files (.vvd, .sw.vtx, etc) from the .gcf with GCFScape to some location.

In MDLDecompiler untick 'Use Steam File Access', browse to where you put the model file and choose it. Choose an output directory. Decompile, it should all work <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_smile.gif">

i can open the normal cs stuff but for cs:s it wont let me

i have 2 choices

Counter-Strike Source Client

or

Counter-Strike Source Shared

and the same error pops up with both

"Could Not Open:

C:Program FilesValveSteamSteamAppsCounter-Strike Source Client.gcf

Error:

Failed to open

System Error: 0x00000020

The Process cannot acess the file becuase it is being used by another process"

that happens with both

and the half-life 2 content one

You can also open GCFscape and in the menu bar enable "Volatile File Access" or something like that. This way, you can open GCF files even when Steam is open - however, if Steam starts updating the GCF while it's open in GCFscape, then you're going to be in a whole world of hurt.

Also - click the link to mark Nooba's solution as "Correct" if it worked for you, as a courtesy to others and the people who helped you.
