Just wondering if there was a way to convert maya made things into hammer?

the source files for hl2 models are .smd files. to export the needed .smd files from maya, you'd need something like this.

I've been trying for the last few weeks to do this for my
CS:S and hl2dm maps with Maya. It seems too complicated....
I can actually get the models to show up in SDK and the map, but
the textures don't work, so I get the purple checkerboard.
It will take some patience...

edit> YAY! got it to work! textures work now, but my model is 13
the size it should be. so, I made a tiny wooden desk and then imported it
into Garry's Mod to shoot around with the gravity gun.
Now I have to make a pool table for my map.
