i've looked around but i can't seem to find it...

what i found out, is that your textures in XSI need to be TGA's from the

...half-life 2 deathmatchhl2mpmaterialsmodels folder

where there also are your vtf and vmt (with the models 1 parameter) files that you converted from that same TGA with the same filename.

Then you export your smd to your

sourcesdk_contenthl2mpmodelsrc folder

where you also create a .qc file with the same name and the right modelname filled in in that text file. you then drag the .qc ontop of studiomdl.exe.

I can browse to the mdl with the modelviewer but there's a checkerboard texture instead of the one i applied in XSI...

any help would be appreciated, it really bugs me!

Hmm, I don't work with XSI so I can't say much about it I guess, but you could try opening the model file with a hex editor (XVI32 is a nice one) and search for the texture filename and check the path and extention it has. Perhaps that can give you a hint on what's wrong?

what value have you got for $cdmaterials in your .qc file, and what directory are the actual .vmt and .vtf files in?

hehe fishy, that was it. i took over a .qc file which had no $cdmaterials parameter.. so i figured it linked the correct folder automaticaly. I now give it directions and it works..

i'd mark you up correct if you'd make it a suggestion <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_wink.gif">
