Orpheus is going to have an aneurysm when he sees the size of these images, so if anyone needs me I'll be hiding in that dumpster behind the mexican restaurant.

Its not the size Vash, Its their location. Side scrolling is a no-no.
Find out why and edit the tutorial.
Use the "Preview" option.

Yeah, I'll do that possibly tonight or tomorrow. I agree, it looks terrible.

This tutorial looks fairly good; I'm doing homework so I don't have time to this ATM, but I'm glad to see that you made a tutorial for HL2 modeling with MILKSHAPE, since I can't stand Xsi smiley

Only major gripe: Please, un-center the images. They're throwing the tables off in my browser, and I have to scroll sideways to read most of it.

Also: When I made models with CF's model compiler, I believe the material format was different (I think the format you used was $basetexture). I was told to use something along the lines of, "modelgeneric" but maybe I just didn't see it in your tut. Good tut by the way, but just fix those images and you're all set.

Now lemme get my homework done so I can actually try this out smiley

Good tutorial. I'm pretty sure most of this can be applied to 3dsmax, so I'll be checking it out soon. Glad there's a simple modelling tutorial out there.

Opera has Small Screen Rendering, which fixes it up nicely.

G.Ballblue: The model format wasn't different. $basetexture is always necessary, no matter what texture type you are using (Lightmapped, Unlit, Vertexlit; etc). The difference between UnlitGeneric and VertexlitGeneric are:

VertexlitGeneric uses lights a model using Vertex lighting
UnlitGeneric makes the basetexture fullbright, and when used on a model must have the "$model" 1 setting in the vmt

I am the trusting sort... More/Less.
We really do need these modeling tutorials.
Nice job Vash.

You could easily fix that just by removing the preformatted text sections (or by entering line breaks in them manually to stop them being so wide).

Don't expect them from me. I can "get around" modelling a bit, but other than that I'm just using small hacks to somehow get my crap to work.

Doesn't matter Vash. If this, or tuts like this promote it.. It served its purpose.
I envision a day where all maps will be models... Entirely prefabricated constructs.

Looks like all the image files have disappeared for this tutorial.

You need to have "$model=1" in the VMT file after the location the the texture or else it will be invisible in game and an error saying that exact thing will be scrolling in the console. Oh, and that includes the " mark.

But it was a good tutorial, I don't like this part "Now you are ready to get this bitch ingame." It is just weird, well, yeah, weird.
