i recall seeing this exact tut a long time ago, however you went into more detail about touching it up.
one thing i think needs adding however tho.
after you patch up all the seams you need to set the offset back to its original place and patch up the newly created seams from all the cloning. shoulf just be the 4 little spots where the borders used to be

Yeah, I mentioned that once the texture has been offset and all the seams are gone, the texture will need to be offset again in case peeps cloned near the edge of the texture. smiley

I'm sure that PS has a tool/function that lets you make seamless textures.
It's a similar method, but uses the offset filter (filter>other>offset)to move the image on the canvas. This results in the horizontal and vertical seams being brought into the middle of the canvas, allowing you to smooth the seams out. Then when you use the offset to move the image back to it's original position, you have a seamless tile.
