Quoting Orpheus
We need to go back to registration date listing order.

The order wasn't alphabetical, it was by the amount of time someone had spent on the site in the current session. Those who have been browsing for longest appear first.

Changed the order to registration date since a couple of people have mentioned this.

----------------------

The map upload/edit etc pages - I've been trying to get the flash uploader finished off properly but have been really struggling to find the time. It's not just the add map page - I'm making the flash upload work for the edit page too, which is why I'm not fixing the current image editing issues people have mentioned above with the current page - they'll just be fixed with the new flash page which works a bit differently anyway.

Sorry it's taking so long, but it is going to get done.

----------------------

What would you guys think about making the current 'community news' column on the main page tabbed, with one tab for the news and a second tab for journals. It wouldn't really look any different to the current form - there'd just be a link in the title bar to switch between the two sections.

I suggest this as I've never been happy with the layout of the FP since tagging the journals on, and the thought occurred to me that it may be better to organise the content with tabs.

I could add icons or some other visual indicator to indicate new posts etc without having to switch between the tabs to check all the time.

Don't worry about delays larchy, you're doing a fine job!

I'd say give the tabbed frontpage a try, sounds like it could be a neater approach. My worry that remains from the start is the font.. I haven't yet thought about what it could be changed to (or perhaps made bold on buttons/title texts)

Oh my god this font is TERRIBLE!

It's worse then using clearfont or whatever on windows!

It's not *just* a simple stylesheet change as there are a few layout issues due to Verdana actually taking up more space (I doubt any of you have noticed the main site logo shrinking by 60 pixels smiley )... but I'll have a look and see if I can make it a preference setting.

I much prefer Arial I have to say. Calibri may be a decent option too.

Think you mean cleartype, which is the MS aliasing method. Some people prefer Apple's, especially designers since Apple's is 'correct' if you do design work that needs precise layout, but it doesn't actually look as good on the screen which is what MS's is geared toward.

Yeah I've gotten sick of Verdana and it doesn't look good on the homepage.

How about choosing the front from the control panel?

Ok font selection is now an option on the Control Panel > Edit Profile page.

You can choose either Arial, Verdana or Calibri.

The site default is Arial.
