Yes, it's just to tease you, my barely playable, ugly, map will never see the light of day!

I'll restart it again some time, I didn't have much done on it. I just don't have time right now. Also, I did give my self some leeway ... I'm sure it'll be done by Winter of 2008

It's taking this map more than a year to materialize. Are we going to see the finished product, or are you just going to tease us?

This is a a discussion topic for the map "Industry" by Crono which can be found here
Map description:
The Map:
Its a scientific 'base' created to terraform a barren planet/moon.
Commentary:
This is something I've been goofing around with, I spent entirely too much time on this area, as this is the only area.
I plan on expanding it out, possibly adding heavily 'trap based' game play.
One idea I've had for it is the ability to pressurize 'cabins' and such, creating a total gibing effect. Possibly add destroyable ventilation systems.
HL2 Notes:
I've scrapped the HLDM idea and started again in HL2DM. What does that mean? TRAPS! Also, the size will probably increase. I MIGHT make it so you can go on the planet surface ... with a buggy ... But probably not.
[Update 10/27/2005]
It got f**king deleted.

Too bright, and not "ugly" enough. I'd suggest using alot more supports to make it feel more like the bowels of the ship, where people perform maintenance.

It'll be a very 'human' space ship. Also, these are about the best textures I can find at the moment (thus the comment asking if people can suggest some others)

This corridor is just a engineering level sort of thing. Like controlling water and air throughout the ship, it should remind you of large sea vessels.

Earlier I was thinking about having areas of the ship rotate to certain circumstances. (literally, like the rooms would flip upside down and such) But I can't think of a logical reason for it being there. I'll probably make a upper deck of some sort and things like that. The only problem is I have to design them ...

Thumbs updated ok at this end. Hmmm, looks like a normal building tbh and not a spaceship, prolly needs more metal textures to get the spaceship look.

Thanks guys. I want this area to look ugly ... its the 'bowels' of the ship their on. In all actuality the vents in this area do have supports there's just not light up there so you can see them very easily, in game they're pretty obvious, I added some really ugly rusted metal support to the pipes on the wall though.

Also, if it makes any consolation, that area with the 'round' lights will be clipped off, you wont be able to see them very well.

[EDIT]
I'm personally not very crazy about the textures I've got here. If anyone has suggestions for other texture packs they know of, go ahead and give a link

thanks.

I uploaded some mildly improved screen shots ... the thumbnails are the same though ... weird.

Mweh, it looks fine for a map thats only 2% completed. Agree with Perin about vent/pipe supports and try and avoid having very long expanses of unbroken walls/floors/ceilings.
The description reminds me of the Aliens2 film

The architecture is nice and varied, but thos lights are just... ugly. I just really don't like the way they look. I would suggest that you make small cubes, clip them in half so they look like ramps, texture it black except for the slanted side(which you texture with a nicer light texture than pure white =P), and place it on the floor against the wall. Make a few of them, then add maybe one or two lights on the vent overhead.
