Game: Counter Strike
Added Sun Nov 21st 2004

Map Description

This map has a discussion topic which can be visited here

This is a counter-strike map I have just started, and it aims to create create the scene of the Iranian Embassy hostage crisis in London of 1980.

As you can see from the screenshot I've been working on the front of the building, including custom texturing (still under development).

I'm aiming to recreate the building as acurately as possible, also see the screen, a comparison of my still under development map and the actual embassy building.

It's gonna take a while to finish this one, as the uni session is in full swing, but I hope to have regular progress screens up, and a finished map by Christmas.

I was thinking about that Beer. There are going to be four main routes into the building, three of which were used in the actual operation. The balcony at the front, the front door, the windows at the back and a skylight, not to mention all the windows. The CT's will have three spawns close to these locations, to better replicate the speed of the strike. I'm only creating the bottom three floors (five in total), as they were the only ones used by the T's and CT's.

Also Lep, if you've scrapped your map, would it be okay if I used cs_nimrod, as its more direct, shorter and sounds a lot cooler.

It looks like a promising start. One thing about house hostage maps tho' - most are crud as they're too biased in favour of the T's. I would have as many entrance points into that building as possible to give the CT's a chance and maybe have their spawn on the roof so they can drop thru rooflights and windows like the real life siege.

What is in the screen is approximately 5 hours work. That includes all custom texturing on the building and all brushwork. The image is a bit blury (see new screen for better pic), but its all quite sharp. The textures are still very much in the works, this is more of a start to see if I could make it. I haven't actually done the windows yet, as they are going to be seperate textures. I just added them in to get an idea, hence the reason they are the same colour as the wall.

I started work on a similar map a while ago called 'Nimrod' (after the operation name) but gave up; good luck with it though! Where did you get those exterior textures from?

Looking good. I'd give the windows a blue tint as they don't stand out enough at the moment.

What you already did looks promising. Self-made textures ?

Need a little more than that....
