Map Description

This map has a discussion topic which can be visited here

This is going to be my entry for the 2005 competition. It is going to have some things seen in the film Beatle Juice plus some of my own extras.

The screenshots ive uploaded are only tests to see how well warped walls made with displacements come out.

[update] Due to me going on holiday and then getting back im proberly not going to finish this before the closing date, like usual. But unlike usual im still going to aim to finish the map.

If you interest for the layout its in the house where they lived. If you walk out of the front door you are teleported to mars with the snake that kills you if you travel outside the playable area of mars.

If you go into the attic and go through the door/wall thingy you go to the warped coridoors etc which then leads to the waiting room. Then going past there will lead you to the offices with the skeletons with loads of object to throw.

If after that i feel like ill make it so the model town in attick teleports you into it for at change in environment.

ow yeah, forgot about the sandworm, thatnks for idea. As for the model town i cant remember exactly what they did, wasnt it they said beatle juice 3 times over the model table and got teleported into the town? Wouldnt it be cool if their was an oppersite of the 3d sky so i could have the model table in the attic and see the people on it moveing around.

[edit] Can any one remember what the worm looked like coz this is all i got on a search, looks like someone made it in paint! :

You better have sandworms... can't name it beetlejuice and not have a random door that leads to sandworms!

and a teleporter that leads to a model of the town!
Too bad you can't resize things on the fly.

(and the door wasn't random, it was any physical door leading out of the house. Not entirely sure how you'd pull it off, teleporters I'd imagine)

I'm talking about the maps that will enter the contest.

I was refering to his screenshots, which look like something out of Wrongworld1

Nonetheless, interesting map idea :] I suppose this map takes on the more sick and demeneted part of the contest... hmmm...

I remembered seeing a map with these things in before but couldnt remember where. These pictures are just test of how hl2 handles these things through displacement but so far its not very good the light on the displacements appears larger than the light on the normal world brushes.

Any way the finished map will be based around the house in the film beatle juice, not sure if any ones seen it and it will have the wall in the attic that goes to the place where all the dead people are.

Interesting concept. I was wondering whether someone was intending to go for the distortion theme or not.
