Cool.
Is it as awesome as it looks? I always want to try it out ... but $40 ...

That's cool. My version of Risk actually has that board. But my pieces are different.
The only problem is: there's a WWII version of risk (several different kinds though) called Axis and Allies. Although, those aren't the entire globe, but fronts that took place in WWII.
For some reason those games cost $40 each It would be really cool to make the game play play a little more like risk. I think that'd be really hard, but not impossible. The more places your side occupy the more reenfocements you get. That kind of thing.
That's really awesome that you set it up so you capture continents. I think capturing countries would take WAY too long (like it does in Risk) ... do you have teleporting points that go from one end to the other? (North East Asia -> North West America)

The Original A&A encompasses the whole world. It's a fun game, I personally own A&A: Pacific, but I kind of wish I had the other two.

:O
I've been tinkering with a source map for the past hour or so, and I thought 512x512 was big.
To bad I don't have dods, since I would definitely like to see this one.

Holy crap, that is one giant texture! I hope that is split into several smaller segments? If it is all one (does source even support such massive textures?!) then split it into multiple parts as it should be easier for graphics cards to handle.

Changes from b7 to b9
-terrain resolution increased to a 320x160 pixel heightmap
-world size increased to accomodate rifle warfare
-world terrain texture resolution increased to 8192x4096 pixels

Sadly I don't have DoD:S, but this sounds really interesting and a fun idea. Definitely something fresh.
I hope people won't get angry while playing it, which usually happened when I played Risk (years ago...).

looks like a really good idea. must be about the most original thing i've seen in ages. i'd like to see the map made twice as big, with famous landmarks from each continent, like the eiffel tower, pyramids, the great wall of china etc, to offer some cover, and give the map a bit of height.
