Cybox, it works Bro, I love the retro feel of it. I'll be (apparently) the lone voice in praise, so far anyway. Thanks for making it, I've hosted it and my clients like it...

The goal was to keep HL1 look and feel. I tried to replace some textures as well, I even made a complete map with HL2 materials, but I wasn't satisfied with the result. Right now this map still has a lot of its old style, HL DM feeling, quite the thing.

I understand that you want to keep the original textures. you could however, to improve quality and make it feel more HL2, add bumpmaps and a little bit of specularity.

If you're gonna take the time to add displacements and decals you might as well just go ahead and update the textures too... unless you wanted to go for the trip down memory lane....

Isnt that HL1 not HL2? Because if it is HL2 it looks AWY too much like HL1

I deeply respect HL1's textures but be prepared to get criticised for the low resolution/blurriness of them.

If you take the effort of porting the map you could try to replace those textures by HL2 ones. Especially considering the simple concrete theme.

One more thing though: I often think that HL1 map conversions loose a lot of their character with unreasoned texture replacements. Grey rocks where there were red ones in HL1, dark brickwalls where there were bright concrete textures ect. So to some extend I respect your decision to go with the original textures. But the low resolution really doesn't look appropriate today.

Anyways, Merry Christmas!
