An unknown terrorist group have taken
several people hostage. They recently transported
the hostages to a safehouse smuggled inbetween
apartment buildings and warehouses in a poor district.
A Counter-Terrorist taskforce has been assembled to
dispatch the terrorist threat and rescue the hostages.
(edit)changed to 99% as i will likely change things Bruce pointed out.

http://www13.brinkster.com/belua/cs_rue_pics.jpg
Here you go. + I added a point on the score, 3 insted of 2 now. I'm not used to a 1-5 rating system, we use a 1-10 rating system. I think it's worth a 3, but it has some major flaws, mostly in atmosphere.

Maybe the score will turn out higher after the playtest, we'll see.

Poke646 textures right? Proportions are way off, especially on some of the doors and objects. Some of the window textures are way too small, the windows are about as big as the players chest, and there's a whole bunch of different "proportion-matter" errors. Just like reno said, make the boundaries less obvious. Assault(2k) has a great example of less obvious boundaries.

All in all, I don't really get a great feeling when playing this map, I'm going to be playtesting it next week @ a LAN so you'll hear more about the flow then.

PS. don't forget to use invisible boundaries to keep people from where they aren't supposed to go, I jumped via the window on the 2nd screen right into the grass which is surrounded by fences, very very bad stuff because we CS players are always very interested in going somewhere we aren't supposed to go.

Well i see what you mean about the window proportions, with some of the textures, the windows are very thin. I dont think I will change this because in my opinion, it isnt that obvious, plus the windows that do seem thin are set to 1.00, so stretching it any further will look bad, so if anything, its a bad one in the texture, though Marc more than likely used those for buildings that the player doesnt get up close, because they are not very hi-res. I havent noticed any other objects which are out of proportion, the doors are exact, so could you please point these out?

As for the point about being able to jump in to the yard, i specifically made that possible, thats why there are crates stacked next to it smiley

I dont really see how i deserved a fail for textures that were designed too small.. oh well smiley Thanks for taking the time to play though it, let me know how it plays at that LAN smiley Oh, and I will alter those foul fat streetlights, cheers for pointing that out guys.

Looks quite good, though too boxed in. Obviously you need an outer boundary but I think it could have been done less obviously. For example, in the third screenshot, there is a big tall brick wall on the left, that is just an obvious boundary. It doesn't look as though it is a building, or serves a purpose in its place - its just an obvious boundary. To be fair though, that is the worst example of this in the screenshots and the rest looks ok, so put this comment down to desperately looking for a criticism in what looks like a decent if not exceptional city map.

like WC said, the poles on the street lights are a lil bit fat, apart from that, the map look great! As far from what i can see on the map layout from the pics it look to be fun>>>>>me clicks DL button
