I'd say (from the screens) the major thing hurting the map are thoses light poles. They look kinda ugly where the pole joins with the light. Make the pole smaller maybe.

An unknown terrorist group have taken
several people hostage. They recently transported
the hostages to a safehouse smuggled inbetween
apartment buildings and warehouses in a poor district.
A Counter-Terrorist taskforce has been assembled to
dispatch the terrorist threat and rescue the hostages.
